A time when organized librarians of some persuasion, who did not even know Moore, saved his book "Stupid White Men". His book was designed to make fun of George Bush, the then new Commander-in-Chief, seven and half months on the job, who was in charge when we had a crisis Michael Moore says we do not have a play book for. Some were legitimately concerned that it might not be the most appropriate time to show the world how to make fun of our President, to write their talking points. Others including our organized presumably non political Librarians said not matter, incite a little hatred, incite a backlash against the US and it's President, victims or not. Of course not, there is absolutely no reason according to the ALA to pause even a moment to stop and think, has the world indeed changed, have our security realities changed when radicals who have the sympathies 0f too many of the worlds largest religion, can kill thousands in a spectacular show even Michael Moore envies. No matter. Seemingly none were concerned about weakening our President in the public arena, just like asking rioters to burn down Ronald Reagans neighborhood. That's ok. Also seemingly an enemy (Michael Moore by his design) of my enemy  George Bush) is my friend. Consequently anything goes. Until Michael Moore wants to change the rules to suit him. No one was afraid then of incitement to violence against a President, not even a retired President. And besides those two, Bush and Reagan had been proven by their opinions and parodies that they were not really qualified, in the eyes of the all important elite. Oh yeah, the ones who stand for the little guy.... Chapters in "Stupid White Men" by Michael Moore titled "Kill Whitey" was free speech they'd bet the library on, to say nothing of millions of American lives. Sections with specific instructions to East LA residents not to forget the anniversary of the Rodney King riots, gave unsolicited advice to them that it is best to burn down neighborhoods that are not yours. Moore gets away with making those residents sound like fools, but with a wink and dash, off he goes into LA LA land with bad tidings for Bush and so many really liked that. Instead Michael Moore said, take advantage of the roads rich, whitey men have built for you from your neighborhoods to theirs. And along the way be sure to set fires on hill tops to be seen from a distance and also there, where "the man" lives and where Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy still lived at the time. It is now seven years after he was bailed out by capitalism in the form of quiet librarians. Yes, all because the librarians under the guise of the nonpolitical American Library Association, conducted an email campaign putting so much economic and political pressure on the publishers who all want the librarians to buy their OTHER books. Because of that, the publishers did the right thing and did not ask Moore to reconsider some pretty heady stuff. They "did the right thing" according to Moore who seldom refuses to cash checks sent his way. Librarians, I am told have bought and maintain a lot of, perhaps most or even all in some cases of Michael Moore's books and films through the years. Mama Mia, that's a lotta stuff! Multiple cities could probably be fed by the amount of money Michael Moore has siphoned out of your local libraries. Paid for by your county taxes, if you happen to be among those who pay county taxes or income taxes for that matter. Moore selfish hypocritical self promotion by Moore in the months after 9/11 "crisis", one "without a play book." "This is a fascinating story because it shows what a free society does when confronted with a crisis. Do we maintain our sense of freedom and liberty and dissent and open discussion of the issues? Or do we start putting the clamp down? I waited it out to see. And HarperCollins eventually did the right thing. I'm really proud of this book, and I'm dying for it to get out there." How then can anyone, everyone, NOT be outraged by Michael Moore's and his own "man" Jeff Gibbs, who in their own self interest, made defamatory claims about many, claiming that they had not only made a bad movie that must not be shown, but that they had knowingly, set out to incite violence against Michael Moore. Despite Moore's and Gibb's self centered, profit oriented defamation and interference with a contract between Carmike Cinemas and "Shooting Michael Moore" their own, far more invalid charge of "incitement to violence" worked for them and they got what they wanted. The Death of "Shooting Michael Moore" in theaters. What other theater chain did not get that threat from "the man" the real man? Even after the Filmmaker Kevin Leffler paid for a full page ad in the local newspaper (Moore get's millions of free publicity from the MSN and his Wall Street cronies he pretends to make fun of, there was no response from anyone in Moore's Camp. Carmike Cinemas said "Shooting Michael Moore" will never be shown in any Carmike Theatre anywhere in the nation" Mike says so. In that full page ad, Leffler offered to change the name to "Exposing Michael Moore" so the good citizens of Traverse City could see a good movie, full of laughs (yes at Michael Moore). Audiences in Miami and Detroit had seen the movie. No one was angry at Moore, they all know he is an over the top Tom Turkey and they enjoyed teh movie and many stayed around for informal conversations with the Filmmaker Leffler. Silence from Traverse City and the Moore Camp. An offer to edit the film was made, and Michael Moore passed up that opportunity without a single bit of conversation. Moore once claimed he worried about about a nebulous clamp down, a Moore muzzling. But is it not obvious his only worry is about himself? No librarians, none have stepped up to purchase "Shooting Michael Moore" for their libraries and none have become know to this writer as interested in doing something to keep Moore from successfully abridging free speech about him. NONE of them object when Michael Moore uses his capitalistic tools ruthlessness to suppress free speech, not his own of course. This egregious smearing of innocent people by Michael Moore via Jeff Gibbs and others for Moore Money and Moore Power, including supposedly non political non profits public service entities, like libraries, is beyond the pale. And no doubt you are heading straight down to your local library to get a copy of "Shooting Michael Moore". ASK THEM ABOUT THE EMAIL THEY SENT OUT  in support of Kevin Leffler. Hold your breathe, make a scene, pass out. They either have not heard about it or repeat the Moore and Democratic Party talking points. Incitement to violence, liberals have been murdered by the likes of these. One might think that a librarian would know that JFK, RFK were killed by lefties. John Lennon was killed by someone who despised "phony celebrities" he wanted to kill one to become one. Before I tear up my library card, a word about smearing campaings. No one does it better than Moore. To proud right winger, to Republicans and conservatives and independents, to anyone who disagrees with him, the Moore smear machine smears on. Even this writer, who is an independent who carries legitimate opposing opinions, gets smeared. Because I think Moore is more a fraud than a savior. More of, by and for the big and elite guys, than of the little guy and because this writer, thinks a "public option" to keep the insurance companies honest is one of the worst ideas imaginable. We need to find a way to keep government honest. Because government power and the politicians who hold it create the corruption, indeed are the Nexus of Corruption. Think Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and AIG. There's Moore and it's Moore.
